Let me start by making a confession! While I absolutely adore each of my friends and love to hang out with them, there are times when I feel like going out and making new friends too. Have you ever had that feeling? Meeting with new people, getting to know them better, and having interesting conversations is actually great for the mental well being. But I have been working with the same company for so long now that there are barely any opportunities for meeting new and different people. So is there any harm in making use of online sites where I get to meet people online? I guess not! And hey, before you judge me, let me tell you that I do not converse with random people. With the advancement in technology, there are sites which help you come across like-minded people who also share the same interests.
When I was small and was introduced to the world of fairy tales through the medium of books by my father, I really thought it was the best thing that happened in my life. I took to books like a duck to water. I devoured one book after the other and still have not been able to stop. So before I make friends online, I always test people on their knowledge of books. That is my way of eliminating liars because someone who says he likes books and cannot even write two original sentences about a book he ‘apparen tly’ loved is clearly lying. I assume that a person who is well-read and knowledgeable would surely be wise. And that is my way of making friends online. And trust me, I have made some great virtual friends who love to read. And since none of my real friends is an avid reader, I spend hours discussing great novels with my virtual buddies.
So, in my opinion, making friends online is actually a great idea. If you think so too, just give it a shot!
